SUSQUEHANNA BRANCH QDMA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING 3/12/09

Directors present : Jack Sorber, Bob Wagner. Ken Singer, Jim Holbert, Jim Dovin, Dave Taylor,
Ed Grasavage, Al Cuevas, Kevin Urian, John Butler, Damien Rutkoski

Associate Directors present: Alton Arnold, , Rusty Ely, Dave Wilcox.

Presidents Remarks - Jack Sorber thanked everyone for their work on the banquet.

Secretary’s report - Past report approved. Motion by Ed Grasavage to accept. Vote unanimous to accept.

Treasurers Report - $8521.13 in the Treasury. Motion to accept report by Dave Taylor, seconded by
                                                                                      Jim Dovin. vote unanimous to accept.

OLD BUSINESS -
Item 1) External Drive for our camera and computers to interface. Bob Wagner said that we have it and are using it.

Item 2) QDMA signs. We will get signs made up and put on food plots on SGL 140 and 35. lets put plexiglass over the signs.
Ask Larry Lee about making backing and posts. Dave Wilcox will check about having the sign company make signs and checking costs. Dave will get back to us on this.

Item 3) January, February activities had great turnouts 20+ at Canawacta Rod and Gun Club, 60 at Springville apple pruning and grafting, 45+ at Antler roundup, 2 seminars at Springville Sportsmans event 40+.
Antler Roundup we scored 40+ racks, Jim Dovin told that the scores were in the 90's to 170+, 50-50 brought in about $151.
Scorers - Ron Hollenbeck, Dave Taylor, Kevin Urian, Dave Wilcox, John Ketchur, Rusty Ely, Mike Giangreco, Jim Dovin. Others involved Ken Singer, Jim Holbert, Bob Wagner.
We should send a letter of thanks to the Backers, owners of the Inn at Montrose.

Item 4) Report on the Eastern Sportsmens show - by Bob Wagner, Al Cuevas and Dave Wilcox. Site is improved, layout better. We could still make it better.

New Business

Item 1) Nominations for Officers - President Jack Sorber, Jim Dovin
                                                            Vice President - John Butler, Kevin Urian.
                                                            Treasurer - Al Cuevas
                                                            Secretary - Bob Wagner
Directors voted - results will be revealed at end of meeting.

Item 2) Website Upgrade. Damien Rutkoski said that he needs pictures and information about the past. Student from Damiens school -
Nick Talamelli will be at banquet taking pictures. Wants to get pictures of banquet setup, activities and Directors. Would like to have bios on all of the directors and put info on the website.
Price reduction on the website for next year.

Item 3) Banquet report - ticket update 92 members, 55 guests with 62 early birds.
                                           Live auction sheet we will make it up on Saturday.
                                           John Butler will get table cloths and supplies.
                                           Jim Holbert has made the cherry plaques for kids at the banquet. Bring 20 of them to the banquet to give out to
                                           kids (junior hunter age)
                                           Small games of chance - we feel that we do not have to address this perceived issue.
                                           Dolmar chainsaw offer - Jim dovin wanted to know what the Board wants to do about this offer. We will order
                                           one.

Item 4) Branch Consulting - Last years work with the High Point Rod and Gun Club was a success out in the field. However most of the members have not joined QDMA. Several of our directors spent a lot of time working with this club - Jack Sorber, Dave Sienko and Jim Dovin. Jack made at least 8 trips to this site, Jim D. made one trip and Dave made multiple trips to get the site ready and to get things planted.
What did we, the Susquehanna branch, get out of this? What do we want to get out of this type of work, in the future?
Damien suggested that the club members become QDMA members.
Al said we need to consult and get some revenue.
John Butler - worried about charging and the liability. Feels we would be liable and would need an attorney.
Rusty Ely - in his private business he does not give free information.
Jim Dovin - don't take it personally. we need to do something, what about consulting, planting and more?
Damien - get them to become members before we go there to consult. Donations
Dave Taylor - push memberships.
Ed Grasavage - followup on work done, courtesy call to push them onto the next step.

Item 5) We want to buy more of the Tom Fegley books from PAQDMA for $1 each.

Item 6) Susq. Co. Federation of Sportsmens Clubs have offerred us a place at their Youth field day on September 19.
